We are delighted to welcome Bill Concoff as our new Religious School Principal
Bill's focus is on the informal, experiential learning environment, where the focus of Jewish learning is in the actions and activities, and not just the words. Our school will take on the look and feel of "Camp Sunday school", with en emphasis in fun, family learning; where the students (children and parents) will build on their repertoire of Jewish values, tradition, culture and knowledge in order to experience a more fulfilling Jewish life. OUR PHILOSOPHY At Beth Shir Shalom learning is a joyous exploration, filled with curiosity, personal discovery, and the possibility for change. Our philosophy recognizes learning as an interactive process and believes that only through asking questions can our children learn, make Judaism a meaningful part of their lives, and enrich our traditions in creative ways. A central part of our approach to education and the pursuit of understanding is to encourage inquiry into all aspects of our Jewish heritage. We have chosen our teachers because they themselves are positive role models for Jewish living and are invaluable resources to our students and their families. Our teachers are caring individuals who bring their dedication and nurturing spirit to our children. Our educational curriculum and programming are designed to empower our students to comfortably and proudly participate in Jewish life. We hope that you will join us in cultivating the religious training of your children by taking what they have learned in the classroom, and making it relevant in your family practices. We look forward to a partnership with you, in building a strong Jewish future. A specially designed family program will meet 5 times during the year with the 7th grade B’ney Mitzvah students and their parents to explore the components and experiences of the B’ney Mitzvah year. Those dates are: October 15, December 3, 2011, January 28, March 24 and May 5, 2012. Our programs for teens, including Club 78 and BeShTY and Confirmation, encourages them to explore personal and social issues and dilemmas within a Jewish context. Our ongoing Adult Education classes, a perfect compliment to their children's Judaic studies, are offered throughout the week. Religious School Forms

Bill Concoff, RJE, has been involved in Jewish Education in Southern California since 1970, He brings to the Beth Shir Shalom program over 40 years of experience in the Jewish community as a teacher, song leader, camp counselor, Youth Group advisor, Education Director, Temple Administrator, and 33 years as a Resident Camp Director.
